Odin TeleSystems Latest Revolutionary Solution of Dual T1/E1/J1 Adapter for ExpressCard/54 Capable Laptops

Thor-2-ExpressCard with laptop

RICHARDSON, Texas - October 20th, 2006 - Thor-2-ExpressCard, which is Odin's newest addition to its family of network access cards, offers dual T1/E1/J1 connectivity in the industry's latest PC laptop card format, ExpressCard/54. The ExpressCard Standard is promoted by the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) and it is quickly gaining ground. Many of today's leading PC laptop manufacturers are replacing the PCMCIA/Cardbus slot with the ExpressCard slot in their new laptop designs. Some have abolished the PCMCIA/Cardbus slots altogether.

Thor-2-ExpressCard features two T1/E1/J1 interfaces, a 400 MIPS DSP, and a 32-bit bus burst transfer DMA feature via the inherent PCI Express bus, which provides efficient transfer of E1/T1/J1 bit-data to and from the PC laptop. The complete data stream for each T1/E1/J1 span can easily, and with minimal CPU overhead, be transferred between the card and the PC laptop. The added DMA feature, the higher performance DSP, and the ExpressCard interface, are the main differences between this product and its OTX predecessor, the Thor-2-PCMCIA series.

The feature set of the Thor-2-ExpressCard makes it an ideal choice for developers building modern mobile telephony and telecom applications like SS7/ISDN monitoring and simulation, call tapping, call logging, surveillance systems, and digital recording/playback. The onboard DSP provides features such as HDLC encoding/decoding, tone signaling/detection, and BERT testing - important features for telecom applications with low latency requirements.

Odin's ExpressCard, PCI-Express, PCI, and PCMCIA based network adapters are supported by the award winning OTX (Odin Telecom frameworkX) open development platform, which is comprised of the application program interfaces (API), software development kit (SDK) and the hardware driver supporting Windows NT4/2000/2003/XP/Vista and Linux operating systems. The OTX platform also offers add-on SDKs which provide additional functionality such as BERT, HDLC, RTP and common VoIP codecs. The highly flexible and comprehensive OTX platform enables system integrators and developers to bring products to market quickly.

"The PC laptop card interface technology is changing rapidly. Odin is excited to be able to supply telecom network adapters for the new emerging laptop card technology, such as the ExpressCard/54. The Thor-2-ExpressCard product offers significant performance improvements over its Thor-PCMCIA predecessor" said Hanz Johansson, Odin's president and chief executive officer.
